Introduction to the Berlin KirchentagFlight and migration, cohesion in Germany and Europe, as well as religious pluralism and Reformation, will form next year's main thematic priorities at the 36th German Protestant Kirchentag in Berlin and Wittenberg. Overall, about 50 projects and topics are being prepared by volunteer programming bodies.
Topics under development include podium series on peace policy and international order and on the sustainable development goals of the United Nations. Events are also planned on "Ecumenism and reformation", the "Theology of participation" and "Images". Three liturgical days, which join a thematic programme with spiritual content and artistic ideas, are planned for the topics "City", "Prayer" and "Flight and homeland". There will also be an evening series "Flirting".
New Centres and Old Acquaintances
Centres, where a programme takes place for three days continuously, are in preparation for, among other things, "Flight, migration, integration", "Muslims and Christians" and "Church of the future". The Centre "Church of the future" is a regional project for which the host Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia (EKBO) will have primary responsibility. The location of the host city Berlin is reflected among other things in a "Central and Eastern Europe Centre" and a panel series "Poland and Germany", which will take place in Potsdam.
In addition to the focal points already mentioned there will be numerous other centres, series and program days on topics with which Kirchentags have been dealing for many years. These include Bible and worship, accessibility and gender, climate protection, and events targeted at children, young people and older people, as well as a varied cultural programme.
